(Please read and give your opinion on the matter respecfully) I know everyone has different parenting styles and that can be a touchy subject most of the time, but I have to say this. I'm not going to allow my son to be watching TV very often, especially through his toddler years. People don't understand that the TV can be pretty toxic on young minds. Baby's brains are developing rapidly and you're absorbing in waves and radiation emitted from the TV that can subsequently stunt mental development and overloading their senses (especially in the very early ages) can hinder their mental capacity. My best friend and Godmother to Nate has a sister in law that does nothing for their little girl (she'll be turning 4 soon). All the mother's done has been sit the girl in front of the TV with no interaction and lay back on the couch and get on facebook everyday. Well, the sweet little girl cannot talk, other than just baby babbling, she is still in diapers for the most part and generally is not developed as you'd expect a soon to be 4 year old to be. It's pathetic, and the most heart breaking part of it, is they believe she is just fine! Every time I'm there, the baby girl is sitting in the floor HYPNOTIZED by the television. Literally!!! If you call her name, she'll ignore you, you get in front of her, she's moves you out of the way, and so on. All I am saying is that there is ample evidence that subjecting a child in early years to too much tv can seriously impact them mentally and even stunt development. I know parents like to use that as a part time babysitter but I would seriously consider something else.

I say the same! I thought I was crazy id rather sit and read her books or actually play with her everything on tv especially Disney is always kids liking each other and kissing the hell is that I was watching bear in the big blue house or blues clues you don't see that anymore

My middle boy only watches Mickey Mouse in the morning and paw patrol in the afternoon. Even when my husband and I watch tv he has no interest in it he's more into playing with his toys and his brothers. Oh and he does watch is Baby Einstein DVDs. But I get what your saying. We do all parent differently but no child should be shoved in front of a tv all day

I'm not all for tv either but the mom is using FB the same way. I think the little girl is being neglected. Poor thing, I'm sad for her! @xomia I hope the little girl had someone in her life that loves her.

Sounds like the girl is just a shit parent.. Watching TV has nothing to do with not talking and not being potty trained. If anything, watching TV will help a child develop language skills and learn social interaction

@kellyl22 well the mother is imo , the father actually wants to have a part in how the baby is raised but of course, when you're working 24/7 that can be hard. It certainly is shitty parenting though.

@scidg3 Oh yeah. most definitely. We live in a culture of appropriation. The mom basically wants to live her life and hope that society can do what's needed for her daughter. But the girl IS around many who love her, she even calls the grandmama, mommy lol. But we all know, learning starts with the parents.

@lilfree16 bless their heart ! yeah, I know learning shows are okay, but studies have shown they have no impact until the child is 3 years old.

I agree to a certain extent and maybe all the way....your child nor you should not be watching TV day in and day out no matter how old you are. There needs to be interactions with ppl and fresh air and so on and so forth. Children especially in early years need different stimuli to help them grow and develop. Being that child is almost 4, still in diapers, barely speaking in full sentences, that is a form of negelect! She not a good parent bc that is what her child is used to, not talking to her and not giving her a different stimuli. Don't get me wrong there are great educational programs, but the child should be interacting with the TV not just watching. So I agree limited is best, but interactions are better!!

@expectingz Absolutely!!! what scares me is that we have entered more and more into an age where it's digital communication and interaction and my fear is that the kids now growing up, that's all they'll know. It's basically turning them no zombies! It's our responsibility as parents to teach them how to actually communicate with peers!!!

Exactly @xomia! It's crazy, and sad to think and know this is what is going on.
