How do you sign up for short term??

I'm really not sure, I just know it's something that my FT employees get automatically once they have been employees here for a year. I know I pay for both cause they are on my check stubs. But when I call they say I can use short term and it's 6 weeks leave with vaginal birth and 8 weeks with c section, they don't approve any longer unless medically necessary.. But I think 6 weeks is too short of time before she is with someone else or in daycare while I work full time

In my state we get another paid 6 weeks off after disability ends. Its for bonding with the baby.

I have short term (50% of salary) and long term (60% of salary), both for 12 weeks. They said I could choose either one. And long term disability has no waiting period.

my job doesn't offer either. I have to use fmla leave and it is all unpaid.

I use FMLA which is unpaid, but because I'm a manager and been here over a year I get STD AND LTD. STD is for 70% pay and weeks depends on the birth.. I haven't found much on LTD but when I called and asked they said I could use short term, they never mentioned long term. I guess maybe I will call back and ask cause I definitely want bonding time, but my district manager says they typically don't approve much more over the normal
