Thoughts on giving your baby a pacifier ? when do you wean them off of it ? Pros , cons ?

I'm giving my daughter one because its better than sucking her thumb. But I will also take it away by age 2 maybe sooner.

My daughter likes it it calms her

My husband and I are going to try not to use them!

My son will be having a pacifier but I'll be taking it away by 1.5 or 2 years old. It's weird to me to see older kids with pacifiers in their mouths 😬

He as will as I just gave in. He is 4 weeks today and he finally eats good but is starting to just want my boob in to sleep & most of the he isn't eating so I found one that works. I give to him when he is fed & changed if he wants it.

But if we were going to use them we'd take it away at 3 months. It's just we are going to try and breastfeed and sometimes after they take a pacifier they don't want to latch on.

I don't see the problem with them at all. All my sisters and nieces and nephews all used them and have perfect speech, good teeth and we're just fine with them until about a year and a half. If the baby wants it and it calms them down, why not? But sometimes you get a baby that doesn't like them, and that's koo too.

It kept my son calm and soothed him,we took him off the pacifier when he was 1 yr with 2 months i just threw it away so I wouldn't give in to letting him have it..he did fine and his teeth are fine as well.
