So I just have too tell you ladies this story.
So, we tried giving Kacey a bottle of formula because she seemed like she wasn't getting full. So she was eating it fine when her daddy was feeding it too her. Well I took her and she all of a sudden was spitting it out and looking at me like "woman. You and I both know this isn't what you give me" so I was like okay, so I put her on the breast. She ate then starting falling asleep. Then something happened that never has before...
SHE LATCHED ON HERSELF. I mean still isn't perfect but I let her have it as we worked to finally get her on enough to where when we switched boobs she latched on again.
I was pretty happy but also thought it was funny because it was like she knew mommy doesn't give anything but boob lol. I loved it. ❤️

@mandapanda2000, she has been doing it for like 4 days straight. Do growth spurts last that long?
manni·
@megbaby07, yes sometimes a few weeks my sons went lasted anywhere btween 6days to a few weeks. remember after your body gets the signal to increase supply it take 3 days for it to catch up and meet demands. so baby is keeping the order going until your body meets her needs, if you supplement then the body doesnt get the signal and the supply doesn't increase. there never really is a reason to supplement unless you have a medical issue, your on antibiotics not compatible with breastfeeding or youve been diagnosed with drying up milk. i got myself a good lactation consultant and she helped me allot. but yeah your lo will habe a growth spurt at i think its 2weeks 2months 6months and 9months i may be a bit off on the times but they do get Them allot. my son is 9months and he is going through one now.
oh and also they will cluster feed every now and then when they are young so that means shell burse every 15mins or only nurse for about 5mims and be hungry again, shes just lightly snacking, thats super normal.
how old is your baby 😊

@mandapanda2000, oh I had no idea it could last that long. I knew I didn't have a strong milk supply but I literally felt like I was failing her because she wouldn't stop. But definitely that's great too know! How do you deal with those moments and your away? Because she is going to be with her grandma most the day Saturday because o have to move my grandma so I'm just going to pump while she is away. And she is 2 months today lol

growth spurts
manni·
@megbaby07, yeah and i learned something cool yesterday as your baby gets older your boobs get used to making milk so you no longer will get that engorged feeling nor will you feel your milk let down anymore when babies not feeding. they will sorta fell empty all the time but thats good that means your milk is at max performance that your making milk lile crazy but id they feel full all the time and you don't empty them then that can tell your body to make less. so dont worry when you reach that stage or you feel like your empty somedays.
also i did power pump sessions if I missed feeding during the day with LO, power pumps are when you pump for an hour straight at night or when ever you have time i did it while watching my shows like walking dead or scandal i pumped the entire episode no break, and that can help kick milk into gear. and then pumping at peak production times like 3-4 a. m. , 7 a. m. and i think the other is 5p. m. is where you het the most output or pump when you feel full you know your bod. also dont be discouraged if when you pump and you only get a few oz at first, just bc you only get 1oz or 2oz when pumping that does not mean thats all babies getting nope thats just All that was sitting in the breast at the time. baby can pull more milk down or trigger let down allot quicker than a pump so your good, your boobs will get accustomed to the pump and before you know it youll be putting out 10oz at a time and youll also get that full feeling more when you switch to pumping bc the baby can drain the breast completely a pump (even with good suction ) doesn't always drain it completely. so you tend to get blocked ducts more with pumping so watch out for those.

@mandapanda2000, oh see that's neat! cause mine does do that often. I was thinking it was me. Like I used to feel my let down all the time. Now I will feel it here and there but not every time. I try too power pump but it seriously makes my nipples hurt so bad and it also seems like it's not sucking my nipple anymore and it's the manual pump because I can't afford a electric one at the moment. So my hand with ache soooo bad.. But like I've tried everything to help with my supply because my left boob is literally so lazy and my right half the time seems like it's never ending. I never understand. Like I want to make sure she happy. And I always thought growth spurts would last like a day or too but it was going on for now like 4 days straight but she then slept through the night two nights in a row. So I thought my supply just wasn't going to increase. Like I would feel my let down when pumping or she was eating but then again it wouldn't a lot of milk so it worried me. But I tried to at least freeze two bags of milk a day. With a minimum of 4 oz so save up for Saturday because I know she isn't going to do so well without having my breasts. And truthfully I'm already missing her and how I'm going to do it without her. But I want too be able to put like 8 oz or something during a session so I know I have enough for her if she is gone and not stress if she is going to have enough to eat. Or because I want too be able too donate and help other babies that can use it just as much. I know sometimes breastfeeding isn't for every person but I really want too but I feel like I'm not doing enough. And I'm not going to lie. I do get lazy sometimes when it comes too pumping but I've done so much better then I did when she was born and about a month and half after. I just get so distracted to do something maybe because I sit at home all the time and take care of her I want too go outside and get air for a minute that I forget to pump. And I feel bad. And then at night I will admit it don't pump at night because I'm so exhausted because I can't take a nap during the day because she hates them. And now wants too eat every hour so I can't sleep... So half the time I'm half asleep feeding her and I forget too pump and I just feel shitty or like I'm selfish. But this has helped me not feel so bad & I really appreciate it. I've been trying to be strong and not tell anyone I was feeling. Can I talk to her pediatrician about my supply and stuff or only lactation consultants?

@meagansimone, thank you so much. That makes so much more sense
manni·
@megbaby07, id find a good lactation consultant the pedis just gonna maybe tell you to supplement they arent really trained in breast milk issues lol and omg hun no your fine infelt the same way im 19 and a single mom and i had no idea i stilk domt but im learning and i feel you im at home with my babe 24/7 bc i work from home and i cant leave ever bc i don't have a car and i live in an area where you can't walk outside unless you want to be on an episode of unsolved mysteries lol so i get exhausted or to lazy to pump too. your fine dont worry and do you have insurance at all ? i got a medela double electric through my Medicaid for free

@mandapanda2000, yes I have Medicaid but my sister said if I do that they won't provide formula if I might need it later and I really appreciate it. Breastfeeding isn't what people act or say it's like. It's so much commitment and time.
manni·
@megbaby07, yeah it is commitment and time and bravery too bc i finally said fuck society and i boon feed in public all the time goigng 9 months strong over here. i had a severe staph infection a while back i caught from my baby and the doc told me id have to give up breastfeeding for a month until i was off this certain antibiotic i said fuck him and i found a doc that would prescribe me a antibiotic that was compatible with breastfeeding i had a painful super painful thumb size hole oozing pus in my side for about 1week in a half until i got the right meds bc breastfeeding means a ton to me lol and no i don't mean to offend if i do bit your sister is wrong, i received a breast pump and to get formula you go through WIC. your medicaid has to provide you a pump even the hospital will gibe you a free one if you don't have insurance for one. my hospital was going to give me one but i told them i had one already. go ahead and cal around find a Kohl's pharmacy if there is one where you live or anyplace that sells breast pumps and then ask your doc to write you a script and then take that script up there and your Medicaid info and get your pump its so nice trust me. and then if you need formula down the line get on WIC or actually you can get on it now they not only help with Formula but they also help with getting food and diapers if im not mistaken.
