I never did with mine

My sons 3 weeks old and he was sleeping pretty good but now he wants to be up more at night so when hes up i try to keep him up to get him tierd enough lol

I didn't. She was a new born and slept soooo much. And when she was up she wouldn't be up that long. Now that she is 4 months. She takes 2 long naps during the day and gets a bath right before bedtime and sleeps all through the night sometimes just making up once for a bottle then sleep until noon lol
