can someone tell me the do's and dont's of breast feeding thats about the only thing im nervous…

they say to make sure you drink lots of water especially not so much caffeine and eat tons of fruits and veggies for extra vitamins baby would nee

What I was told was follow the rules of pregnancy: whatever you can't eat or drink or take during pregnancy for the most part are still off limits while breastfeeding. As for supplements to keep your milk supply up, there are different options that you can discuss with either your dr or lactation consultant :)

okay thank you ladies! also this may sound dumb but my fiance promised me a tattoo its going to be for my daughter obviously its not going to happen for at least a month after i give birth i can only take so much pain in a month but if im still breast feeding by that time can i not get it or how does that work? @ecb224 @rainbowbaby2015

Be careful not to introduce a bottle to the baby for the first couple months so there is no nipple confusion. Sometimes baby will refuse the breast because it's less work to suck milk from a bottle. Then your stuck pumping and pumping sucks😉 Also, feed baby on demand and you more than likely won't have milk shortage. Trust your body, it provided for your baby for 9 months and will continue to do so after birth. Lots of people seem to freak out that they can't know how much baby is actually getting when nursing but if your baby is having wet diapers and gaining weight then baby is getting plenty:) Good luck! It's the most amazing experience. I ebf my baby for 13 months and am now nursing my 2 month old.

@oklahoma.girl55, I don't THINK so but I could be wrong. On the other hand, when you get a tattoo, the ink gets into your blood supply for awhile, hence the reason you can't get one while pregnant. So it may not directly affect you while breastfeeding. I'm not an expert though so hopefully someone else can give you some better insight hahaha.

Don't drink energy drinks, I drink caffeine all the time, but be careful because some babies react to it. Water, juice, things like that are fine. If you do drink alcohol if the general rule is if you feel fine to drive you're fine to feed, so if you only had a beer you're fine, if you're not comfortable with that you could pump and dump or feed baby a bottle while you're drinking. I'm EBFing right now. I love it

i was going to ask about the alcohol rules obviously dont get wasted then feed baby but i didnt know how much you needed to pump and dump qfter drinking @lovebuggg2016

Just until you're empty. I've heard that you can drink a beer while feeding because it takes a little while to get into the breast milk, but I'm not honestly sure. I don't drink so I don't worry about it. Your boobs will fill really light after you pump and you won't be able to get more out. That's when you're empty. But don't pump for at least a month after you have the baby, it takes a while to establish a supply.

Same thing with bottle feeding and paci. A lot of people say nipple confusion isn't real, but my daughter had it. I gave her a paci and then she wouldn't latch at all so I had to dropper feed her. It was horrible
