I just had my 38 week appt thursday and I was 3 cm and 90% effaced. She asked me if she wanted me to rupture the membrane and I was like omg noooo lol

it's where they sweep the thin membrane before you get to the water sack and it helps bring on labor. I just want it to come on naturally that's why I opted out

@emmarosemommy, I was 38 weeks and 5 days and I got it done.. It hurt like hell BUT two days later I went into labor... I wanted to get this done because I was scared I'd either go passed my due date or my daughter would have shedded off her protective layer and what do you know have of her protective layer was gone which means she would already would have been on her way.. I just wanted to maybe push her along.. Honestly have the time a membrane sweep doesn't even work for a lot of women. So I didn't think it work... I was also only 1cm dilated too.. I don't regret my decision and more than likely I might do it again for this pregnancy if I'm at the same weeks or a little further.

@emmarosemommy, okay well just be prepared it does hurt and talk to your doctor about it. The first day I had it done I spotted blood and then the next day I lost my mucus plug and then the next day I went into labor and lots my bloody mucus plug

@haileysmommy21 is it a long process? and ive already lost most of mucas plug

@emmarosemommy, nope it's quick and easy.. And your mucus plug can regenerate.. Meaning it can reform again.. You won't fully lose it until you have you're bloody show.
