This isn't pregnancy related but I need some opinions.. my grandfather suffers from Alzheimer's disease and dementia... he still lives at home and he's getting worse every day... my grandmother who is his care taker won't send him to a nursing home but complains all day about having to take care of him and treats him so horribly (verbally) when people aren't around when he isn't understanding or not doing what she wants him to do. The past 6 months or so he falls everyday sometimes multiple times and she is not able to pick him up herself so she has to call somebody because I am no longer aloud to help lift him... which i feel horrible about because he only understands that I'm pregnant sometimes. Anyway today when she saw me look down at his wrist and noticed he had this bruise she started rambling on about how he was trying to hit her and that the bruise is from her trying to keep him from hitting her but this bruise is way worse than it looks in the photo and I was right in the other room when she claims this happened and he was just very confused and she was trying to force him to eat pudding. Idk guys... I'm just trying to figure out what to do about this I feel as if he might be getting more abused when I am not around and I don't know how to go about this. I can't post this on Facebook for help because to many people know my family. Who should I talk to about this?

Honey. You need to let authorities know. I understand that's your family but he can't be in an enviroment like that especially when he is so confused all the time. He doesn't understand why she is doing those things and it's still abuse. Get him out of there and somewhere safe for him!

He needs an actual nurse to come in that's to much for her

this broke my heart of she can't handle him I feel he should be in a home where he doesn't get hurt. I feel you should look into places for him before she gets too out of hand and hurts him to the point where he won't be okay and she will be in jail

You need to report that! That's abuse. I know that's your family but you need to. My grandma has dementia and I would hurt someone if I knew that they were treating her badly.

and just because he's in a home doesn't mean neglect doesn't happen!! always check his skin everytime you visit!!! and if any of the cnas give you attitude report them!!! I've worked in a nursing home first hand and they're are some shitty caregivers!!! I hope he gets the respect he deserves!!!

You need to do something as soon as possible because it can get worse and you can get in trouble for knowing about the abuse and not trying to take action. Try to have a nurse stop by. My brother is a nurse who takes care of elderly and out of everyone they are the most in need of help. You need someone to be attentive to him and cater to him.

I'm a cna. and I'm not gonna say every nurse and cna are amazing and treats residents good but honstly in the 2 years I've done it I've only seen one bad nurse. you should call the cops and ask them to check on him and his well being. also if he does get put in a home don't forget about him try going to see him as much as possible and make sure you get to know the staff at the nursing home. and if you ever see anything you don't like always talk to ether the nurse or don (director of nursing) and there will or should be somewhere in the building that has the states number or Google it. if there's anything you don't like call the state they will do something to stop it. if the nurses and staff dont. I'm so sorry your grandpa is going through that. having his illness is hard enough on them. I'm here if you need to talk about any of this stuff. and I will help and tell you everything I know or where to go to get the right answers
