Uggghhhh!!! I called my work's leave of absence administrator to tell them my dr is about 90% sure she'll induce me around 39 weeks (may 5th or around there) and they actually asked me if I was planning on working that day (ummmm hell no) then said ok so your last day will be the 4th then? So I told him no I was planning on the 29th being my last day since I'm off the 30th and the 1st. He told me I'm not allowed unless my dr said its medically necessary. So I don't even get 3 days off before my son is born to finish getting things ready for him. WTF!! They basically said I have to work up until the day I go to the hospital. And mind you I literally have not called off or whined or anything and have done whatever they ask!!! So fed up with retail and big corporations!!! I'm so convinced to not go back after Micah is born.

Not sure what the laws are there, but here, once you hit 36 weeks, by law, your employer has to let you stop working if you choose to. And my doctor wanted me to stop at 36, that's just what he recommends. I would say something to your doctor

You can take maternity leave whenever you so chose to. However it's still probably only 6 weeks. So earlier you take it, earlier you go back. Look up your policy because here pregnancy is considered a "disability" so it has extended policies.

I've been checking into it since I got home. 6 weeks if I have him vaginally 8 weeks for c section. It doesn't really say much in the policies about needing a dr to say that I can't work. What really sucks is I pay into extended short term disability so that I'll still be getting 60% of my pay with no $ limit but the first week is unpaid (I already arranged to use a week of my PTO so I can get a normal paycheck that pay) so if I pay into it and say I'm done, I can't do it anymore I don't see why they really care it's not like I'm 5 weeks pregnant I'm almost 40 weeks and have not limited anything as far as work at all. Until last week I was still getting up on a ladder, I'm on my feet all day and by the end of the day they're so swollen they're numb and 3 days is that big of a deal. I hate Wally World!!!
