this might be a dumb question. but how soon after deliver does baby get fed? what are the procedures…

They usually want you to feed them within the first hour of birth

your usually feeding about an hour after she comes. they'll clean her off weigh her and make sure everything is good and then when you do skin to skin the baby will find your nipple and start eating.

That is basically all up to you. I plan on having the "golden hour" which means after the baby comes out, they straight up put him on my chest skin to skin (before cleaning him off) and then everyone leaves for an hour. Just me and baby for an hour. It helps regulate their body temperature and they are supposed to automatically breastfeed during that time. They even pull them selves towards your breast and drink. After that they can clean him up and stuff. Some people refuse to have their baby on them before they are cleaned up, or don't want to breastfeed. But I will have my son placed on me and everyone will leave us to bond and (hopefully) establish breastfeeding before being cleaned or weighed or anything.

All I know is if you breast pump you have to do it an hour after delivery.

them finding the breast and feeding is more of an instinct for them . they can smell the colostrum and go straight for it. how long they feed will vary but they then start feeding about every 2 hours

As soon as baby was on my chest they had me feed her. They say the sooner the better, especially if you plan on breastfeeding.

She ate for like 10 mins then they cleaned her up and gave her her shots. lol
