Ok so my sister just called me very upset about her gyno appt today. The doctor told her very bluntly that if she doesn't take the pill she's going to get cancer. Because she's not producing eggs. And the back up from not having periods will cause cancer. Now none of this makes sense to me. And I'm upset that this doctor was so blunt with her. My sister is 19 and now she's crying because she thinks she's never going to have babies, and I don't even know what to tell her. Only to get a second opinion, because this doctor sounds like a whack job.

I'd say get a second opinion and try and seek natural medicine I was once in her shoes and natural medicine was the only route that worked for me.

estrogen can cause cancer I know that bc I just talked to my ob about it bc my mom had breastcancer & I'm thinking about getting my tubs tied bc I'm done & don't want to mess to much with it

tell her get a second opinion i had cervical cancer when i was younger and what hes telling her makes no sense but what i can tell u is they do say taking the birth control pills can help keep the cancer cells from regrowing or reproducing. i was on birth control for several years for that reason so that part is true the bc does help but he should not have told her she will get cancer if she dont take them

@brooklyn0516, yes i hope so too... ask her if they said anything about hpv or dysplasia? if they did then thats what he meant that she has more cancer cells then normal and the bc will keep them from growing. Not that she has or will def get cancer. Every woman has cancer cells in the body its just a matter of if they reproduce or not.

Wow definitely a second opinion! I have first hand experience with a bad doctor, different situation but this doctor diagnosed me hypothyroid and told me it was so severe that I would have problems ever conceiving even with IVF. well I got pregnant and when I got my thyroid levels tested at my OBGYN they were PERFECT. Completely normal. My OB cannot figure out why I was ever diagnosed hypothyroid. I'm sorry that your sis had to go through that
