Anybody had to have blood taken from their hand instead of their arm?! My veins are too thin so midwife having to take from my hand instead. Not the best with needles as it is so now crapping myself about it being my hand instead of my arm! She tried both arms too! 😞😞

ask for a butterfly needle, there so small!! I have it every time I go in, there used on children and are tiny xxx
Drink plenty of water :) dehydration thins the veins :) I had a cannula in the hand :) it wasn't any different from having it in the arm. Didn't feel it xx
tbh I have before many years ago and have a permanent scar where it was done which I'm not happy about and I found it more painful than the arm. My first midwife appt she tried 4 times in both arms but kept failing because she wouldn't listen to me, she asked about doing my hand and I told her no and so she referred me to the phelobotomist instead, I had to go to the walk in part a few weeks later as she collapsed my veins and I had to wait for them to recover. She has to do my bloods again at my 28 week appt and if she can't get it done I'm going to go up to the hospital instead and see the phelobotomist again because I won't allow it to be done in any part of my body except my arms. He did a great job the last time, he asked me where's best to do it and I told him as I have tiny, thin veins but if you do it right and use the small butterfly needle it will work every time... needless to say he got it perfectly right first time and was able to get all the blood he needed. I also drank lots of water before which is the best thing to do and something I make sure I always do before hand xx
Aww dear :( did she not tell you to go away and drink plenty of water? My midwife suggested that. Even though I drink loads she said drink a bottle before a blood test to help with veins. Xx

I have the same problem. I've had so many blood tests recently that all my arm veins are damaged! I had to have it taken from the hand and it wasn't pleasant but it worked straight away. xx
Yeah I had to at my last appointment. Felt the same as it does in the arm. Before pregnancy I had great veins but now can't get nothing. Strange xx
Iv always had blood from back of hands as my veins in arms never show or come up xx
