So mommas, those of you who strictly formula fed, can you tell me about it? Was it worth the money…

I did formula with my first and I'm breastfeeding my second. There are pros and cons to both. What are you most worried/concerned about? Convenience? Expenses?

cost?? i get wic so they gve 9 cans for newborns then decrease as they get older!.. i still got engorged with milk after so i ended up breastfeeding her 1-2 times a day..now after a 2 wks my milk has gone down..its hard to say all hve pros n cons...try breastfeeding of not something tht u or bby can do..do formula..food is food n bby will get all its nutrients it needs.. @savvylynn1

@kimberlyyyy, which one do you like better? I'm just worried about the expense and I know that breast feeding would be cheaper but I'm worried I couldn't do it, cause it seems like lots of work , I'm 18 so I still have school and after the baby is born I'll be doing classes online for college & taking a couple at the actual college so I want it to be convenient for my husband to just make a bottle when the baby needs one when I'm away for a few hours or what not. I know I can pump and everything but I've heard so many horror stories about it , like your nipples bleed and crack and they get super saggy if you breast feed & I just can't decide which one I should do

I formula fed my first because breastfeeding didn't work out. We spend a fortune on formula even with help from wic. I chose to exclusively breastfeed this time which has been going so well! Saves so much money and it's cool to be the food for your baby wherever you go. No bottles to tote around. Pros and cons to both tho, I just prefer BFing

Don't listen to the horror stories. If you're prepared, you'll handle like a boss. I suggest talking with a lactation consultant! Call the hospital you're delivering at and they'll give you the number. It's definitely hard at first, but it's worth it once you get in a groove.

I want to, I feel like it would be so much better!! Because it's obviously way better for your baby and probably more convenient to just pull your boob out rather than going and warming up water and makin the actual bottle and everything I'm just worried ahh @haileybuttons

I definitely prefer breastfeeding. It is harder in the beginning because you can't ask your partner to help with feeds at night like you could with formula, but if you can handle no sleep for a few weeks it gets a lot easier. It's nice now having to wash bottles and stuff. I would recommend pumping for baby after 6 weeks of age. If you use the right side breastshields and don't use the highest pump strength right away you should be okay. Definitely try breastfeeding. If it doesn't work out, you can sign up for WIC and they may be able to help you get formula. They are breastfeeding friendly though so ask them for help nursing if you need extra assistance.

You can do it! It's worth a shot. When I first started, it was hard I won't lie to you. Your nipples get really sensitive and when your milk comes in, it's hard for them to latch cause your boobs are so full. I used coconut oil in between feedings and got the ice packs for nipples and used those between feedings too. There are tricks you'll find work for you to help get you through. and reaching out to mamas going through the same thing helped me stick it out. Now my nipples don't hurt and feedings are awesome.
