I haven't heard of you having to pay for maternity leave, a lot of women usually take off the week before if they genuinely know that's when they're going to have their baby. All you need to tell your HR representative or whoever is in charge of maternity leave that you will be going on maternity leave at this certain date and leave it at that. I really don't think they would want to go into specifics on if you had your baby that day or not? Just seems a little odd that they would go to that extreme. All the woman in my light duty facility usually go a week before so it gives them time to settle, maybe last min baby preparation. But thwy know how to play the system to where they usually tell their doctors they dont feel ready to go back to work and their doctors give them extensions. But every where is different depending on coverage. I get 6 weeks paid (maternity leave) and 6 weeks non paid (bonding leave).

I get the exact same as you with paid leave ect but their saying if I was to leave like the 20 of May which is a payday I don't pay but June 2 I'll have to pay for my insurance coverage .. & then my leave kicks in June 7 @lildarebear

I had to do that with my last pregnancy to avoid a lapse with my insurance company.
