Question: so I have my OB who I have no issues with whatsoever, but I've also been looking into midwives in my area and have heard that a lot of insurances will pay for midwife services if you choose to have one. My question is can you have both an ob and a midwife? And will insurance cover both? Or is having both a bit excessive? Has anybody ever had both? I know it's probably a stupid question seeing as I have a healthcare provider already and we're already 15 weeks in, but I'm really liking the midwife idea and the things I've heard about them and how much more personalized it seems to be.

@katiedarlingxo, so did I for a while! From what I've read so far on them however, midwives are actually just certified nurses that can also perform some of the same exams and can deliver the baby just as a doctor would, but they take a more holistic approach as opposed to an OB and spend more time with you and go over more than just the medical stuff that an OB will cover with you. They also will arrange for you to have any genetic testing and screenings done and will arrange for you to have ultrasounds, so I guess they don't perform those practices. But it's nice that they pay attention to you emotionally and kind of guide you and help you a bit more in more aspects than just the medical stuff.
