So my child's father texts me saying pretty much none of his family is going to come to the baby shower and that that's what they verbally told him. It definitely kind of sucks, but part of me is more upset for him even though he can be an asshole a lot of times, and his parents have issues with some people in his family and can be petty and stuff themselves, they are always dragging him to all his family's functions and I know that there are people who showed up to his 21st birthday party last year that are included in those that say they aren't coming to the shower which is a bit of a slap in the face to me more than him. I know there are people who can't make it for real reasons (booked vacations, leaving for college, etc.) but I know for a fact that not all of them have legit reasons especially when the shower is going to be late July-early August. I, as well as my family, are going to be putting most if not all the money, time, and effort into this shower so I told him that if they're not coming and want to act like this now that's fine but don't do any wishy washy mess and change their mind last minute because once there's a final headcount and a booked place and everything is planned out that's it because nobody's spending extra money just incase they change their mind; and I told him I don't want to hear any foolishness or want any involvement from those who have not been there or supportive once I go into labor and when the baby's here no matter what because I don't have time. I've been nothing but nice to all of them, I've always been respectful, I've never stepped out of line, I'm always nice and kind to them and greet them with a smile and talk to them, and some of them don't even actually know me, they just know of me as "Josh's girlfriend" no name, no face, just that I exist, so it's a little frustrating, but I know I have a decent, supportive group of family that will come through on my end and I know that his most important family will be there; here's hoping those that do decide to come can actually be respectful and responsible, and if it isn't too much to ask, adhere even slightly to the registry (even though I'll be grateful for every and any gifts I get for my little nugget).

@lil_bigmama, smh it's so sad to me when adults can't be civil and supportive of their own blood regardless of what their personal thoughts and beliefs are. I get there's probably some people who feel that we're too young being that by the time the baby's here we'll only be 21 and 22, but some of them fail to realize that they had their children at the same age and some younger, and some older who are worse off than us, but we've never given them reason to feel however they feel or act the way they're acting. We've never been rude, disrespectful, or anything like that. My shower is more of a celebration of this beautiful new life and two families that are going to now be connected for eternity, not completely about the gifts although they'd definitely help in our situation. I'm honestly just looking at it as it's less money that needs to be spent on a place to fit a huge crowd, less to spend of invitations, less to spend on favors, and stuff like that.
