Hate it when people who have had babies say 'good luck going through labour without an epidural' we all handle it different, so I could go through it with just gas and air, pisses me off!!

I had my first when I was 21 and did it on only gas and air and I don't have a good pain threshold either but I surprised myself I did it on just gas and air. I couldn't tell you what labour pains are like apart from super painful cause you forget about them the minute you have your baby. Like you said why would women go through it multiple times. You will do great and just listen to what midwives are telling you 😊 @leigh-amyxo xx
@leigh-amyxo everyone's different, I have a really low pain threshold but labour pain is a completely different and unexplainable pain...good luck chick xx
I had a water birth with no pain relief at all for first and just gas and air with second xx
ah great hopefully we'll get them lol...although you may be more likely to get it than me since you're going to a birthing centre and I'm going to a hospital and depending on what happens they could be in use again lol 🙈xx

this is pregnancy no5 baby no6, my first were twins I went 18 hours without anything, then had epidural as had to have emergency c-section. my last 3 labours natural delivery i only had gas and air, same with this baby. @leighamy123 xx
You're exactly right, and sometimes that's when things can go wrong...we want the baby to remain as happy and calm as possible during the transition. Aww don't be scared hun when it happens just go with the flow and listen to your body, practice breathing exercises, maybe some yoga I'm planning to do both these things and have a water birth this time as I missed out both times before since my first baby was being monitored constantly throughout the labour and birth process and my second baby the birth pools were in use and then by the time they were free everything just happened too fast lol. xx
I'm having my fourth, the pain is really bad but its a pain you forget. And its very worth it. With my first and third pregnancy I had gas and air and diamorphine, with my second I only had gas and air, I had no option as my babies heart rate was dropping. Every labour I've had though I've asked for an epidural but I couldn't get one as the timing was wrong,my labours were quick. If I can get an epidural this time I'll take it. But that's my preference. Any woman who does it as natural as possible I really salute you. I'm just a wimp lol. xx

I told my midwifes not to offer me an epidural. and I told them that eveb if I beg for it,to ignore me. But I never felt like I needed it..my first labour was 30 hours long. my contractions were intense and close together ( I was monitored throughout so they could see how strong theh were) I didn't dilate past 5 cms so had the drip they use when inducing. I pushed for 3 hours and only had gas and air but nothing at all for pushing. I also had a ventouse. The dr who delivered my son just kept saying that she couldn't believe that I didn't have an epidural. She was laughing about it whilst I pushing !! haha. but the truth is...I never felt like I needed it. You HAVE to relax and breathe into your contractions. when you're pushing, it's far more painful coz you can't do that. But breathing properly and relaxing really does help the pain. my second labour I had no pain relief whatsoever and I was induced at 37 weeks. everybody's pain threshold is different. mine is low 😂 BUT in labour you concentrate on your baby and you know the pain is for a reason. It's for your baby. It's not coz you cut your finger for no reason lol
. I think the best advice is to go with the flow. breathe,relax and not to have expectations. don't get caught up on what you do and don't want. There's absolutely no shame in pain relief or an epidural etc. All that matters is that your baby is safe and you're not emotionally suffering. Once your baby is here nobody will care! they will just want cuddles !
I don't cope well with pain but I no I will have my baby at the end of it @nadsx316 I'll stay calm because I no if I'm stressed my little man will be and I don't want that! I have 3 weeks left until my due date and I couldn't be more scared and nervous xx
@leighamy123, no problem hun, maybe they're just jealous because they couldn't manage it so want to put you off...a friend did that to me with my first because she had everything going but I stuck to my guns and had the birth I wanted and was pleasantly surprised to see it wasn't as bad as all the horror stories that I had been told lol and I coped just fine xx
yes you can definitely do it hun, don't let them try to scare you off. You're absolutely correct that everyone handles pain differently and some have a higher pain threshold than others. I have had two babies and had no form of pain relief with either baby and I fully intend to do the same with my third. You can do whatever you put your mind to xx

@leighamy123, see that's my thoughts too when I see they've had more than one.. I'm only 25 weeks but the birth does freak me out.. I have a weird pain threshold, suffered with a slipped disc for past 14 years and can sit for 6+ hour tattoo sessions but you bring needles near me for piercings or blood tests and I'm a complete wimp haha 😂 but to share that with 'friends/family' and then have them tell you horror stories, you just want to high five them in the face lol xx

@leighamy123, obviously I can't say it is easy cause the pushing is hard.. the contractions weren't that bad for me and everyone is different but.. you have to believe in yourself that everything is going to be okay and you are going to meet your baby at the end of it xxx

@leighamy123, I didn't have any pain relief what so ever.. if I get pregnant again I won't even listen to anyone. . cause what everyone said got me worried and scared and I had a lovely labour xx
I can't have an epidural so the only thing I can have is gas and air because of the hospital I'm giving birth in @winterbaby95 the only way I'll be transfered to the other hospital is if I need a c section xx
People always have an opinion :) I went on Gas and Air from 8cms and wasn't allowed to push on it :) But then I was given a spinal( wasn't my choice) it had to be done because I needed a forcep delivery :) also if that didn't work...I would've needed a csection :) I just say go in open minded...because you personally don't know how you are going to handle labour :) I managed just fine pushing on nothing...xx
Yeah if I wanted it then I would have asked my midwife if I could birth in an hospital which does them @mrsripper I'll have gas and air if I need it but that's all I want, I want it to be as natural as possible xx
Stay strong!! I did my first labour without any pain relief at all!! not even a paracetamol.... and I was only 17 😄 my second I had a epidural but he was a big bubba and felt I needed it however it was my decision and I never would let anyone scare or bully me onto something else @leighamy123 xx
I totally agree @barnold couldn't have said it better myself!! I'm so scared as it is, trying not to show it and then people say that to me😟 if it was that bad people wouldn't do it more than once😂xx
I've been getting really frustrated with this issue.. I want the birth to be as natural as possible and don't want an epidural at all but everyone laughs and says 'yea see if you think that when labour starts' does my bloody noggin in.. why can't they respect ur decision and just smile.. as a first time mum labour seems scary enough as it it without them lot adding to it xx

I keep getting it as well 'you won't cope with out one' you won't be able to do it on just gas and air really annoys me! I'm now adamant to prove everyone wrong xx
