@mommy2b2017, personally I smoke but I have to . I was on several medications about 2 years ago b4 I made the switch I can't quit just like tha t because the medicine it had replaced but I am trying to slowly take myself off . my doctor doesn't recommend it but I don't want any risk , of losing my child for taking my meds .it's pretty upsetting that I would lose my child for taking one medicine that replaces 8 while the others cause birth defects if I do decide to switch back but that's legal. I can't really say if it will cause adhd in my child because I also have adhd along with the father of my child.

your on a great start already @twinscomingsoon I definitely get what you mean @nicolemarie5496 i definitely feel the same way .. you make a good point @supermommy31082 it is somewhat irresponsible because you are putting your baby at risk. @followoursurrogacy you got the information I was looking for thanks and yes please do ask about the testing but if I find out that I have a BFP I will be stopping until I give birth

I've read a couple posts like these in the last couple of months. I work in a medical marijuana dispensary and are currently pregnant. It's not my baby, so I wouldn't dare smoke, but we have a couple of women who come in who have concern for their babies. I've spoken to our medical director who is a naturopathic doctor specializing in Marijuana about what is safe and what isn't. Statistically, marijuana hasn't been proven to be unsafe to the baby during pregnancy. They tried to do a study on women who did smoke, but the problem was that a majority of them ALSO smoked cigarettes so the study was inconsistent with marijuana. That being said, he did mention that when you smoke, you're still inhaling butane and cutting off oxygen for a brief moment every time you take a hit which could potentially be dangerous, but the outcome is still unclear. However, for those women who want to continue using for their conditions, he advises using edibles, tinctures or possibly even vaping if they like the direct effects rather than waiting for an edible or tincture to kick in. As for testing at the hospitals, I have only heard of a few rare cases and will bring this up to my medical director to see what he says, but you have to give consent to be tested as far as I know, and even if they did, CPS would have to find your living arrangements drastically horrible before they could take your child. I have a couple friends who smoked throughout their pregnancy and they did fine and their babies turned out ok. I know every situation is different though. Actually, marijuana is being considered right now for reschedulement. It's a class 1 narcotic and if it's lowered to a class 2 or 3, that would save a lot of people from having to worry. I would rather see babies born healthy who were exposed to marijuana than babies who are born sick exposed to painkillers the whole pregnancy.

I don't smoke but I think its really irresponsible since people are lacing weed with shit now and days but I also know the hospital tests the baby so why risk getting your baby taken and I know when you go to your Dr appt they test u too if they find drugs in ya system they will notify cps but like I said I don't smoke but definitely don't think women should while pregnant

I smoked before I was pregnant too , the day I found out I was prego I never touched a blunt again lol, there is so many chemicals in the weed now I don't see why anyone would risk it I know we all hear from other people saying "I smoked my baby was okay " everyone is different though and just cause that person's baby seemed okay it can be a different story for ourselves you know? not worth the risk at all! and they do drug test you before you have your baby and if you come out dirty they will take your child.

@mommy2b2017, thank you! I'm trying to give my babies the best shot! I don't want anything or anyone risking me being with them.

@mommy2b2017, I smoked every day up until I found out I was pregnant. It was a personal choice to not smoke. I decided I wanted to do it sober and avoid child services just because I don't wanna deal with them at all. I can wait and even after I give birth I'll probably wait. I haven't decided yet. I understand your curiosity. I had a lot of friends actually judge me for not smoking while pregnant. They said "my kids are amazing smart and healthy it's not a big deal you can smoke if you want" and I just had to tell them yeah I don't want to.

I don't smoke while pregnant but have several friends who have and they have healthy babies with no issues what so ever. Yes they do test the baby at the hospital. Child services could get involved and check in on the baby for several months following birth, but if they see no issues with the environment and baby is happy and healthy they can't really do anything.
