Morning ladies. I've got my PhD interview tomorrow and I've never been so nervous and excited! when I submitted the app it took me 3 months to convince myself that it doesn't matter if I don't get it, il just enjoy maternity leave and get a better job next year. truth is I really really want it. I've worked so hard the last 5 years towards this and if I don't get it I'm going to be devastated. All the knowledge is there I'm just worried I won't get it across in the interview. I'm also being interviewed by 2 men, so part of me is worried that when they see me waddle in in my pregnant state they will subconsciously use it against me....I'm so passionate about my project that I can't talk about it without crying!!! Haha _ hormones! urgh.....this is going to be fun 😒 #pregnancyproblems

@mrsmowmow, thank you. the interview is for them to fund me so I can carry out my own research. I've considered hiding it, but I'm not sure I'm able to anymore...I'm quite large. I've also considered acknowledging the fact that I know they are investing in me etc etc. I've just done 5 years with three kids too so it deffo won't get in the way. I might try carrying a cardie......I dunno what do for the best 🙁

be proud of you're current situation and make it clear that pregnancy and children aren't hindering you. Yes they can't discriminate but not discussing your pregnancy and the extra issues that come with it (because it's obviously not as straight forwards as a non pregnant person.) would be like not acknowledging the elephant in the room and then they might leave the interview feeling like they don't know enough or being misinformed. just smile. be confident and be strong. If they can see your passion for your subject /project . They will snap you up. my postgraduate study originally declined me because I didn't answer some questions how they would like. But then called me back up and gave me another shot because they could see my passion and determination and I had stuck in their minds. just be yourself. relax. and you will do amazing.

If you know about it and you are prepared you will smash it babes. Doesn't matter if they are men, if you are pregnant. It's what's in your heart and brain that counts!!
