it's not a big deal if you accidentally did, power of steering is pretty forgiving I mean, people have put vegetable oil in there too.... just don't make a habit of it cause it can gunk up the system because they're a different makeup and consistency. all oil lubricates, but not all oil is the same, which is why you use different oil types on different cars (or specific instances)... info brought to you by my dad: 40 years professional mechanic, and husband: 25 years non professional mechanic(:
being cheap in the way you maintain a car just means you'll have to buy a new one that much sooner! but it's their wallet, not yours 😂 my husband is the kind of guy who always cleans everything under the hood and puts in higher quality oil and gas once in a while to give everything a healthy boost... we put about 70k miles on it in 2 years though, kind of needed to keep it in shape, especially with a crappy little Chevy cavalier!!

You actually can! I have done it plenty of times. Power steering fluid is just oil they put it in a different bottle to make more money

I guess it's way worse if you accidentally did it the other way around (put PS fluid in the oil tank).
