@navywifej, You use this app after shopping when you already bought your products. I just started this app last night lol. All you have to do is just shop regularly for all the items that you need and if it happens to be on the ibotta app then click on the item for cash back. So lets pretend that Im going to go buy clothings from American Eagle :
