Mommies who had an epidural, what was the process like, how did it feel getting it & did it work for…

It was a fairly easy process, for me I didn't even really feel the needle go in because they have you bend over whilst sitting and having a contraction. I was holding on to my husband and it was over in a second. It was the best decision I ever made, it was such a pain reliever and I was able to sit up and talk and not be miserable for the rest of my short labor. I didn't slow down and was ready to push not long after receiving it. I wasn't doped up and neither was my baby, she was very alert. I will be having another with this baby as well.

Mine sucked! I was shot with the needle twice because supposedly my back has a lot of "muscles" which made it difficult, I kept being pushed forward and told to bend more...because obviously I recognized my big ass prego stomach, I could tie my shoes; let alone lean forward...I bled bad in my back after the procedure. It DID eliminate the pain BUT it also slowed down my delivery. I was able to dialate to 8cm & then had to have an emergency c-section because my baby's heart rate dropped. I didnt like that once O got the epidural I couldnt get up to walk or stretch, I felt like I needed that...I think you should do whatever you want...everyone is different & everyone responds differently to things...good luck.

I had the best experience ever. labor was long and slow and painful! I was not dilating more than a three , my nurse said I had to be at least a 4 before I could get my epidural. after a few hours with no progress she got the OK from my doc to go ahead and give me the epidural because I was in so much pain. doctor came in and had me bend over and hold on to the nurse as I sat there it took maybe 3 seconds and that was all. . I laid back and he asked me if I felt the contraction and I was like no? on the monitor I was having one breaking the scales lol I was like yesssss it worked already!! after my epidural was in they put the catheter (felt like pressure down there) and I fell asleep shortly after! when I woke up from my lil sleep I felt like I had to poop and 1 hour later I had my baby! I'm so glad I got the epidural, because I was literally not progressing. as soon as I was able to relax and sleep I opened right up!

I hated my epi. He had to redo it twice and the second time he was wiggling the needle all around trying to get the right spot. It only worked well for ten minutes and then only worked on the left side of my body! Which I hated!! By the time i was ready to push, it wasn't working at all. It was terrible and created a lot of drama and anxiety for me. The next time I went into labor, I did all natural and much preferred that experience. If I have another baby, I will do natural again:)
