My daughter is the same I will tell her something in spanish and she replies in English.

my children are the same, but i do get in their ass for that. I do encourage them to not only understand it but speak it.

@mommy082111, that's is exactly what happens to us my MIL came to visit a week ago and all she got in spanish was a hi 😧 lol @chela915. we've done the if you don't speak we won't give it but it's been a total fail

yea i try i have a 14 year old who speaks perfectly but my 12 and 11 sound horrible. I do get mad because here being bilingual is a big plbigwhen it comes to careers. Plus i also get the ugly looks from mymfamily which i do understand but they don't see i do try.

My son didn't know anything else but the basic words that is till we went to Mexico last dec. the only way to communicate with his cousins was speaking Spanish. He speaks it very well now, my parents only talk to him in Spanish. And he replies in Spanish as well.

@chela915, his dad only speaks spanish just a little english im bilingual so that's why they blame me for him not wanting to speak it 😒

Lol I say some words to him here n there in Spanish but he replies in English. With the one on the way I think we gonna talk to her in Spanish first and only some English.
