My baby will be 4 weeks old on Tuesday, and during labour I suffered a 3rd degree tear and had to be stitched in theatre. Well now I am in agony from the stitches, when I walk or sit on a hard chair they feel sore and also ache. The midwife checked them yesterday and they are healing nicely and there's no sign of infection at all so she says just the healing process😫 anyone have any tips to take the pain away please? I swear this pain is worse than actual labour!!😭

I feel your pain, I also had a 3 degree tear and I swear I've needed gas and air more with them healing then I did in labour! Have you tried holding something frozen down there? Touch wood mine seems to be ok now just hurts after a toilet (number2) go for lots of baths, I also put sudocream on and witch hazel on a sanitary towel! It's really painful isn't it, I hope you heal soon @emorleyx xxx

Yeah I was the same lol!! I was induced too and my labour was so fast I only had gas and air but this pain is just constant, I've tried salt baths but will try the sudocrem and ice thanks 😊 worth it and would do it all again to get my little boy but cannot believe the pain sometimes! I kept getting midwife to check and she just kept saying 'they fine' and I'm like really but they hurt!! Lol glad yours are feeling better though! Xxx

I know and it's hard getting up and down constantly with baba when your in so much pain, I was an emotional wreck 🙊 , yes definitely worth it and the pain won't last forever 😊 I read somewhere that lavender oil in the bath is suppose to help the stitches heal and dissolve but I didn't try it myself! @emorleyx xxx

what soothed my stitches pain was putting a sanitary or maternity towel in the freezer for about 10 minutes and then putting it on. instant relief lol its amazing xx

@baby316, I did take the ibuprofen they prescribed me but seems to not work much now x

Have you been taking it every 4 hours as I found that if I was 5 minutes out on the 4 hours I was in so much more pain. It didn't get rid of the pain but just took the edge off of it. I feel your pain though. I know it's horrible but glad for you midwife thinks they are healing well. I had a 3rd degree tear with 1st pregnancy and 2nd degree this time round x

Thankyou @baby316 she said its not fully healed but healing well. Oh will try that Thankyou, it did help at first but then started to hurt more. How did you find the 2nd degree tear? My midwife told me sometimes they are more painful or at risk of infection as they give you antibiotics for 3rd degree, I finished mine xx

Thankyou @duchess92 will definitely try the sanitary towel in freezer lol! And will keep having the baths @tamz0569 they bring slight relief whilst in the bath xx

2nd degree hurt more at the time of stitching ad with 3rd you are completely numbed but with 2nd they just give you a couple of injections so I could feel some of the stitches being put in which was really horrible. 1st few days were painful but it's been 10 days now and they are very uncomfortable at times.. Itchy and feels like a golf ball where the stitches are internally!! Midwife said they are looking good though so fingers crossed xx

Mine feel similar to that! I feel like somethings inside lol and they are itchy sometimes. Oh I thought that I was glad I had a spinal anaesthetic when I had mine and didn't feel a thing, couldn't of coped if it was 2nd degree that sounds horrible 😖 glad your healing well 😊 xx
