found something on facebook that bugged me. I was a heavy smoker before I got pregnant ( cigarettes that is ) and as soon as I found out, like an hour after, I dropped them. no second thoughts, no hesitation. but other women complain about how hard it is, still smoke, and look for stress relief in other things, such as marijuana and narcotics. how could you do that to your kid? like, that's inconsiderate of your child. I personally think that if you really tried, you wouldn't have to depend on anything to relive your stress. go work out, eat something, walk, talk to somebody, take a shower, something!! there's always alternative options. stress is just an excuse to smoke that blunt, pop that pill or light up that cigarette. of course, stress does cause Alot of anxiety and depression but, still. when you're carrying another life, that IS NOT your own, stop being selfish. that's what being a mother is about right? putting your kids before yourself? ... just my opinion...

no, it's causes too many health problems, not just for myself, but my daughter as well. second hand smoke is Alot worse, than smoking the cigarettes.

when I got the pregnancy test I have a cigarette just before I done it because I knew if I saw two lines that would be my last one, I never smoked the whole pregnancy but made the mistake of starting again after a couple of sleepless nights x

well, I had smoked up until 9weeks. bc I didn't know I was pregnant, I had been feeling sick so I hadn't smoke in 5days. of course I was wanting the nicotine so badly, and I smoked half a pack the night before my mom took me to buy a pregnancy test. it was positive. and after that. ( November 13, 2015) I haven't smoked since. @mizzgigglez55

I smoked and quit as soon as I found out I'm sorry but the whole quitting cold turkey is bad for baby is bs to me and an excuse to keep smoking...smoking can cause SO many problems for your baby short term and long term! My coworker adopted and mom smoked and when she was born she couldn't regulate her temperature and was having nicotine withdrawal so what part of not quiting cold turkey is bad when your child goes through that??? I totally agree with this post.

I was a heavy smoker to and quit as soon as I found out j was pregnant and I have horrible anxiety and I'm prescribed Ativan and I stopped taking those and my adderall for ADHD so women who say they can't quit is bull I have panic attacks every other day and I find ways to cope without my meds

I agree 100% with this. its not you that you have to think abut anymore its another human being who doesn't get a say who can't speak yet and tell you. as a mother your children should always come first and that includes inutero ... and also that who quitting cold turkey is complete bullshit! you can quit and you baby will be fine your just trying to come up with excuses to not stop which again hurts your baby!

I agree. I smoked a lot before my first pregnancy and when I found I out I never smoked again. you can do cold turkey if you have enough motivation for it. cold turkey is wayyyyy better for baby than smoking a little less everyday.

I agree 1000% if a cigarette, pill or anything else detrimental to your child's health is more important to you, you're a sorry excuse for a 'mother' if the baby isn't 'here' yet. 18 days after conception that tiny miracle has a heart that beats!
