is anyone considering getting a full crib or just having a bassinet? or maybe one of those things that you can put in your own bed so the baby can sleep with you

I got a pack n play with my son who stayed by my bed for the first 8 months or so. Then he went into his crib in his room. Will be doing the same with my daughter.

I used a small bassinet for my daughter because our bed was low to the ground... Then once we moved she moved to the bed with us because she was sick so often... Finally at 2.5m she got her a nice crib & she transitioned nicely... It doesn't matter what you get, get what you're comfortable with. My daughter was EBF so she had to be right on me at all times

@stephhhx3, see i like that idea lol i just want my baby to be close especially like you said at least for the first 8 months most likely i will be doing that !
Kia·
@mrsthig, 😩 see !!! again i agree i want my baby close just because im a first time mom . i dont want to have to get up and go really far to get to her so i was probably gonna get a pack and play just in case and let her sleep with me & if you dont mind me asking whats EBF?
Kia·
@leahh, lol !💯 everyone pretty much has the same idea ! i think nobody goes straight to a crib

I'm get a crib but also a co-sleeper to use for the first few months.
Kia·
@gina819, definitely agree ! i found cute and safe co-sleeping bassinets on babies R us

Exclusively breastfed = EBF 😉 it was nice to have her close for those moments so I wasn't consistently up and down all night... But the pack & play we bought came with a small bassinet & we used that... Set it up on my side of the bed and did it that way for a while. I personally was against cosleeping but now I'm so used to it I don't care anymore, she was sick BACK TO BACK and it was just easier to take care of her in bed. She just got her own room so that has been a little new for us... I think it's bothering her that I'm not as close but soon enough her brother will be in the room with her

@kiacalli, I loved having him next to me. Sleeping in our bed wasn't an option for us since me and my husband are wild sleepers and move too much lol. But I loved having him with me for a long time. Didn't have to worry about cribs and wether or not to get bumpers. And all the craziness with newborns lol.
Kia·
@mrsthig, OH yes okay i was thinking on breastfeeding but i just feel like i dont wanna get overwhelmed 😩 like what if i gotta go back to work ? what if she isn't getting enough or doesn't latch on ? lol i was considering at first but now im leaning more towards formula 😩 I guess i gotta just give it a try lol did you have any issues? and I totally understand after a while like 7 months i want my baby sleeping on her own as well

I'm getting a bassinet and pack and play for now
Kia·
@stephhhx3, Yes lol I understand cribs can be a bit much 😩 but you know i guess in your situation that worked lol my boyfriend is a wild sleeper as well !!! so I feel you i guess i'll put the baby on my side or idk maybe he'll tighten up lol hopefully. i just want 0 worries at night
Kia·
@mrsthig, awwwwww how cute!!! lol its like she always needs you so what's your difference between EBF and regular feeding? I really want to give it a try most likely i will push come to shove like you said i will supplement, so when do you plan to stop breastfeeding? thats my other concern lol ! but thanks soo much for the information I appreciate it !

EBF is nothing BUT breastmilk for a certain amount of time and then there's supplementing... And also you can breastfeed but also feed cereal & baby food. Yeah she needed mommy 24/7 which was really nice but also really demanding, luckily I wasn't working at the time & I could devote that time to her... But also too I barely had time to myself... So showers, eating, sleeping, taking care of household chores, going to the bathroom I really had to question what should I do while she's sleeping... I'm a pro now at inhaling my food, holding a baby & peeing, feeding a baby & peeing, sleeping sitting upright... Lol it's the skills 😅 she weaned herself at about 7months... I wasn't producing enough because I was pregnant and she was starting solids & not nursing as often... But I'm going to allow her to BF again (if she wants) once her brother is born (she'll be one). Breastfeed as long as you want! My cut off age was 1.5 yo on the breast but I'll put some breastmilk in a cup for her past that if she wants but some go up to 5yo, it's all about what YOU are comfortable with
Kia·
@mrsthig, wow 😩🙏🏽 you go girl !!! now thats a super mom !!! you can do it all !! that takes alot of skill i wanna be like you 😩 like you said time devotion patience you name it but the benefits are definitely WORTH EVERYTHING , congrats on your new addition 🏈🏀 :) when are you due?
deleted_user·
TONS of patience lol, if you ever need anything just message me. If messaging doesn't work for you, I don't mind texting. It really is worth it, so I say try it & if it doesn't work please don't get discouraged... Nothing is wrong with formula. Don't let anyone steer you away from what YOU want to do as mom & that includes dad. If you want to breastfeed, do it. If you want to formula feed, do it. Co-sleep or crib... Do what makes you comfortable and helps you sleep better. Because it's all about your baby. I'm due July 9th thankfully lol I'm working up until labor so I can also help you out with BF while working too 😉 let me know what you want to do! Thank you honey, I appreciate it!!
