Have any of you ever highlighted/balayage/colored your hair and then a month later it's a completely different color? I went in February and the photo to the right is how it looks today. It looks so brassy and nothing like the original. Would love to hear your experiences and how you went about fixing it. And/or if you think this is just hormonal due to the pregnancy. Hope everyone is having a wonderful Thursday!

@nicolepb, does the toner bring out the original blonde or will that get toned down too?

You can definitely leave the purple shampoo on longer to reduce brassiness. Or go in for just a toner which shouldn't cost too much.

Your hair was probably toned after it was highlighted to reduce the brassiness. A toner is a semi permanent color which washes away usually by 6 weeks.

@tbro, I know they make shampoo for people with iron water, or I've heard use lemon juice or tomato juice and saturate hair with it, let it sit for about 10 mins then shampoo

@babymama85, I'm not sure but in the event that I do, how do I get iron out?

Do you have a lot of iron in your water? That will make blonde turn brassy

@taylortarrant, I remember when buying the purple shampoo, the technician said not to leave it in there for more than 60 seconds otherwise it'll catch a violet hue.

@marienoelle, haha thanks honey. It's just frustrating because like you said, hair services don't come cheap and I feel like I just got it done so why on earth is this happening?! Definitely not shooting for the brassy look either 😉.

Maybe let it sit on there for a bit. It usually helps but I guess if it's to brassy it might need to be professionally toned :) @tbro

I think it looks nice personally! lol but definitely could be hormonal girl, hair color is very very likely to either change or not hold color the same... I've been too scared to color mine cause I've seen a lot of people who's color comes out way different than if they aren't pregnant (not bad just not what was expected). even my body hair is a different color! I'd either wait til after baby or do a light touch up if you wanted to, since you know it won't last. .but I'd save all that money til a while after baby when hormones settle. nursing though holds onto those hormones a bit too so trial and error will tell :) good luck!

If you have hard water try using a purple shampoo. It usually helps counteract the brassy tones :)
