Been thinking about had I not left my job of two years for the job I have now I'd probably have a little less anxiety about job security and financial stability during the weeks before and after the baby because I know even if it was unpaid leave I'd still most likely due to a lot of factors and the rapport I had with my superiors and my work ethic and time I had been there, have some sort of secured definite leave time and a job to come back to. I know most places I've read will not really consider giving you any benefits or holding your job or allowing unpaid leave if you haven't been there for a year, and though my baby's estimated to be due after my one year mark with my current job, that's not to say I'll physically be able to be working at that one year mark, and applying for a new job makes me slightly concerned that either they won't offer me a job or if I get it it'll be over before you know it with having to take off time after the baby. I don't mind working up to my due date if my body allows it but I can't rely on that, but God only knows when the time comes if that will be possible. It also doesn't help me that I know people who have worked my job before (same store, same location) who had children (got pregnant while working there) and are no longer there so that's not really reassuring either because I don't know if they chose to leave or what since they were long gone before I started, and nobody else on our staff has kids. It's really sad how hard they can make it for expectant women in terms of getting/having/keeping a job.
