MOMMIES WITH ANEMIA I HAVE A QUESTION: Called my hematologist about the iron pills I was taking and how they've been making me feel so gross and crappy and worse than when I don't take them and they're setting me up with the iv iron starting next week most likely. I've never had an iv (for a kid who has always had health issues I've been lucky enough to never need an IV in my almost 21 years that I can remember). So BESIDES the iv being a bit uncomfortable, I've heard that there's almost zero side effects with it and that the most common side effect is a rash as opposed to the nausea and constipation with the pills; What have some other mommies experiences been with the IV iron? And have any mommies been told that because they were anemic they couldn't have an epidural because of risks of severe blood loss? I've seen and heard some people say that I'm I'm praying to God that that isn't true.

same here im anemic as well and im not taking them iron pills nor them horse nasty ass prenatal vitamins..I did'nt take none of that mess with any of my kids

@coko, lol they've been telling me to take iron pills for years now and I was terrified because of all the side effects I had seen about them so I just never took them but I figured I'd try because they scared me talking about my baby might not develop properly and all that if I'm iron deficient while pregnant (meanwhile it's been developing fine all these weeks lol) and oh yeah I've been taking prenatal gummies because of all the horror stories I heard about the pills and those are working well for me (especially since they taste like candy lol)

Dont listen to them crazy ass doctors im on baby #6 and all my babies came out just fine smdh @jc100495

My anemia was mild in the beginning of my pregnancy so my doctor had me taking a small dosage of iron and I told her all the side affects I was having and she said I could stop the pill. Then 3 months later they did blood work and my levels had dropped so low that she has me taken this very high dosage and I'm constantly constipated and feeling sick. I take a stool softener everyday with the pill. And I've never heard anything about not being able to get the epidural, but she keeps warning me that my levels need to increase because she doesn't want me to have to have a blood transfusion or something during labor.

I was taking iron and just got taken off because it was making me so sick.
