Is it wrong for me to tell my opinion on declawing cats?

Apparently my dad and sister are getting my mom a cat for her birthday. They asked me to look online for kittens at our local shelters.

I did.

But I also told them the benefits of adopting an older cat from a shelter. They agreed to consider an older cat.

But then they told me they were going to get it declawed! I felt sick because I didn't know that and I wouldn't have helped because of how against declawing I am.

So I sent one polite (I swear absolutely polite) text saying why declawing is negative, the alternatives to stop a cat from scratching and how much cheaper it would be to not declaw. I also sent links to already declawed cats so of it was absolutely necessary, this way no new cats would have to go through it.

I also said I'm not going to pressure them, just wanted to make sure they had all there information and that no matter what they choose I'm not going to be mean or anything I just felt that I was obligated to tell my opinion at least once.

I sent it to my dad and he was OK and I let it go but now my sister is super mad at me. was I out of line?
