Ok lady's I have a question...if read some articles on the "proper" way to have a baby and I've read that laying on your back is the worst way to give birth. Is this true or no?

It's easiest for the doctors, but not the ideal position for mom. You're bent up and don't have gravity to help move the baby out.

Oh ok I understand. I was hoping I got to pick maybe the squatting position. But I guess I can understand since it would be easy and safe for the baby

It also depends on the mom's body. I have a problem with the ligaments attached to my pubic bone (they're loosening and stretching right now instead of right before labor) so I'm in danger of them tearing during labor. If you have something like that going on, the staff has to be aware of it and not position you in any way that spreads your legs too much (so on my back would be a bad idea) but if mom is healthy aside from going into labor, the doctor will likely pick a position that'll work best. Ideally they try to make you as comfortable as possible too. Make sure to speak up about it at the hospital, they might be able to put you in a more comfortable position
