yes they are but they are worth it especially if you are going to have more children... look into your insurance, most cover pumps

@sarahdrew, I applied for pregnancy insurance but I don't know how long it will take... but I have Medicaid I'll look into it

I have a 3 year old but I didn't breastfeed... but I want to with this baby

I beleive Medicaid does pay for them... double check tho to be sure as I'm not 100% sure

I read that it's now illegal for an insurance company to decline you for a pump. if they do then you could go to your local health department and they should have some.

I have pregnancy medicaid (mohealthnet) and it only covers pumps for mothers ages 20 and under. I know WIC department here will help you get a pump. I don't know brands though, sorry. I'm leaning towards getting a Medela breast pump if I am able to breastfeed.

I used the double electrics for Ameda medela and Lansinoh and I can say Ameda and Lansinoh are good pumps. I used the manuals for all three of these too and Ameda and Lansinoh were amazing
