I don't understand how single pregnant women get any financial help. I called the Texas help line (211) and all I get is food stamps and medicaid. But my hours at work have literally gone down to nothing. If I didn't have family to live with I would literally be in a homeless shelter. Cause I don't get a my financial help until the baby is born.

not with money. I don't qualify for anything until the baby comes. there has to be a child involved and apparently she doesn't count until she's born.

that's crazy. I have a kid but i know people who don't have kids and they get financial help. and I live in Texas too so that is just weird to me. your situation doesn't sound right. you should be able to get help cause your pregnant.

that's how it works here too hun...my mom works for the 211 center of United Way..and welfare only allows you to have money when the baby is born..I know how u feel hun trust me..only thing acceptable for u would be because of the baby and this economy is so fuked to just help an adult..I will pray for you..it's not easy..ppl living in these conditions hurts me to see it...exceptually a women pregnant with nothing for help...if anything go and try wic as well...you will get stuff before the baby is born..

I know I never qualified for anything when I was single and I was thrown out on my ass at 17 yrs old with a waitressing job and not even a GED

We cant even get food stamps for the time I'll be on maternity leave (unpaid). Because I put too much in savings.
