I need to know what true contractions feel like. I've been having what I think are contractions off and on and I'm not sure if they are real or not. My doctor said I was dilated to 4 cm on Tuesday at my appt, so I'm wondering if I will be going into labor soon or if I'm already in early labor. I'm so confused. Help!!

Everyone says cramps, for me it wasn't like that though. Literally feels like you are flexing your abs like tightening in your stomach. At first then it like flexs so hard yu can't breath. Weird way to explain it lol but that's what it was for me

@rennysmommy, That's what I've been having! Along with the cramping. It's just so difficult for me to tell when it's time to go in to the hospital.

At 4 cm I would go when they are like 5 minutes apart. Wouldn't want to risk having the baby at home! My friend was 4 cm and as soon as she started feeling contractions she went to the hospital, they were already like 6 minutes apart and she had him within 5 hours

@rennysmommy, Wow, that's quick! And yeah, I would not want to risk having him anywhere but the hospital. We live about an hour away from the hospital which really sucks. To make things worse, my doctor is in Florida until Monday, so I'm really nervous about someone else delivering my baby because they don't know anything that's happened throughout my pregnancy.

@rayniem, oh my goodness that's far. Mine was 30 minutes away and my water broke at 36 weeks and I was having severe contractions like thought I was having this baby in the car when I called my ob office they said uh oh my dr was also out of town. Luckily he made in in just as I stared pushing he was in regular clothes too it was kind of funny
