Pros.. putting all your money together to pay bills, groceries, gas, etc.
Cons.. if one of you is putting in way more money or they are spending wrecklessly
I trust my man and wouldn't mind a joint account but I like keeping my money separate just for the fact I don't want to spend his money freely and we usually just use one of our accounts on certain bills and gnive eachother our half of the money.

I think it's just whatever works best for you. We have a joint account and have had one since we got married. We also have savings. We pay the bills, take care of misc things like gas and groceries, and move half of what's leftover to savings. We've been able pay off debt this way and now how a comfortable savings and extra money every month for things we want to buy or do.

I think it's wise to have both. I'm a stay at home mom now but before my husband and I both had one joint that our bills where paid with and then our own. Even now we have separate however I just changed mine to just a savings account and my husband uses his as a saving for the most part too for his hobbies. Pros: All checks are deposited to the joint and before any money is transfered to individual accounts bills and groceries are paid first so there is no question about bills. You can also see where and what each other is spending money on. Cons: You can see what each other is spending money on making surprise gifts or presents very hard (Christmas for instance). The one making the most money is always going to feel slighted because they are the bread winners and think they are entitled to more spending money.

It should only be used to pay bills. Both your money should not be deposited into that acct. You should each have your own separate so you can move money into that joint acct. And have bills directly coming out of that one. Or you can do it the opposite way as well and whatever's left y'all can split and save or spend

con: They can spend the money on whatever whenever they want. Pro: Its easier to budget together. say you both throw your money together and pay off the bills, and such, and then take some of whats left for savings and some for recreational use.
