I don't think it's fair to say: "Nobody with government assistance should TTC." Because a lot of times it was just bad luck that got them there. Having a child is the most precious thing in the world. I think having a child would give that much more motivation to get off of government assistance. Also, if you did wait till you were off.. It could be too late to conceive. I say go for it and don't worry about other people's thoughts or opinions.

I a mom of 10 agree with what a lot of you are saying. children are wonderful things but you need to be able to stand on your own feet but if you need help ask for it that's what it for. the only true problem I really have with is the one's that truly live off of it and don't want anything else and teach that stuff to their kids. Go get said go to school or something and be the best you can be, and we all need to keep an open mind and heart and maybe support someone who is trying because it's not easy but it can be done. keep prayed up and hold your head up because someone is watching you and sorry to say this but actions speak louder than words. if it's being used the way it should then fine but it's not meant to support people their entire lives. and people who have kid after kid just to get more make me sick. and yes, I'm from a town where that legit happens so I can say that. people who really need it should be the only ones to get it. ppl with loss and hiccups in financial situations or injuries and old people as well as ones on disability ... not some one who has 12 kids by 10 men just to get the child support and govt assistance. they need assistance alright... the assistance of a chasity belt.

You do realize we are the only country with a government that doesn't gladly support its people. What do you think government assistance consists of? Its not that much. its not like people can now afford flat screens and cars since they have a little bit of extra help. People need to eat. People need healthcare and not everyone can afford those basic needs after the bills are paid. Some people like my mom who was a single mom had a life threatening illness that made it hard for her to work so she got disability and Medicaid. Should she not have had me when all she ever wanted to be was a mom? No. Is it anyone else's business? No. Answer me this. A newly single mom needs to get back to work. She now has to pay all the bills on her own, try to feed her and her child, and try to pay for childcare at the same time. Should the government not help her for a while? Taxes already get taken out of every paycheck Id much rather have my tax dollars going into someone's family's stomach than into the greedy pockets of government officials. I'm all for hard work, but shit happens that may jeopardize your income! Spouses die, people get in car wrecks, people become disabled, people lose their jobs. Meanwhile billionaires are getting tax cuts someone somewhere can't afford their medication necessary for them or their child and are suffering. Where's the outrage over that?

Love isn't going to pay for the food another baby is going to need. I know that things happen, like job loss and injury, and people need the assistance, but if you're already struggling..... Me, I wouldn't be actively trying to bring another life into this world if I was currently relying on the government to pay for their food. Children are a huge responsibility financially, etc.

I think people should know if they can afford children or not, and take methods to prevent it. But at the same time everybody is entitled to have babies. And of course everybody loves babies.. 😍 But raising children in a low income household isn't always the best intent for the child. But I know of parents who raised the BEST kids who went off to college being raised in poor household and I've seen kids do nothing being raised in higher income household. It all has to do with how your raised. As long as you love and want it and it raise it to have morals and self-respect and motivation I'd say do what you want

my situation is my husband works hard to support our family but we're because my husband was deployed we fell behind and we now live in low income housing and I'm expecting again but we wouldn't trade it for the world

I think babies are a blessing & the choice to conceive is personal... but why intentionally bring a child into this world that you can't rly afford to support? There's nothing wrong with assistance when it's used properly, as in to get someone back on their feet or for those who are truly unable to work... but I don't understand why someone would willingly settle for being on assistance instead of building a career & a future for themselves before having children.
