I've been in the hospital since about 6. My contractions were about every two minutes for a while. They gave me a couple doses of a medicine that's supposed to stop contractions and are giving me fluid. I don't know what the drug is called but does anyone have experience with stopping preterm labor?
The nurse was just in and said I'll receive another dose at 4pm. Sometime in the morning I'll be seen by a doctor. Nurse said my contractions are much less frequent.
@payitoffnow, I went with my first baby at 33 weeks and they gave me magnesium which stopped everything. I stayed in the hospital 2 days they also gave me 2 shots too help speed up baby lungs just in case baby was born. The magnesium did the job. I had my son at 37 weeks it would of been longer than that but I fell at 37 weeks and that put me in active labor.
@payitoffnow, yes it helps. honestly your 36 weeks, it would be ok to have your baby. if he/she can cook until 37-38 your fine. stay off your feet for a week.
Magnesium is what they normally give to stop contractions. Makes your whole body seem hot!
@payitoffnow, due to this...now I am pregnant with my daughter. I get a weekly shot with her. this started at 16 weeks.
@christal1102, so it was successful for you? I'm 36 weeks. I don't know how long they'll want to give it to me.
@payitoffnow, I went into labor at 30 weeks with my son. even at 5 cm. I was given shots to stop it. he was born at 35 weeks. I was given pills to take to help & bed rest
yes they are
