some states have made it a law that they have to be rear facing until 2 years old. They used to say that if their feet touched the back of the seat it was time to move them because impact could break their legs. But, there was a higher injury and mortality rate due to the neck supports so they changed it to rear facing.
my guy was rear facing until he was 2. I had to educate myself with tons of studies because people were not supportive of the idea. Everyone said, "poor baby must be bored!" then in the same breath, "he travels so well" Yeah that huge window in the back is usually sufficient in keeping him not bored. it's proven over and over to be much safer. I honestly would have kept him in it until 3 but had to compromise with the husband. Children that are rear facing have a much lower injury and mortality rate than those flipped forward. People will say they are too scrunched up.... there has never been a claim of broken legs because of rear facing but there are many due to a child having their legs dangling over their forward facing carseat. Just dig in deep and read credible sources, they will all tell you the same. Safe is better than sorry 😊
Oh okay, I thought it was so you didn't have to share your snacks. haha! jp.
I know! I was kinda wondering how that worked for the little ones, as far as their legs being up against the seat once they're big.
its impossible once they are past 1 my kids were long and by 2 they had a front facing seat you just gotta get the seat with the 3 buckles that goes all the way up there chest
