So I'm having some difficutlties only at night 😐
When I pump the 2x during the night, I wake up to lump and sore breasts 😢
I pump until empty and breasts are soft and massaging the whole time. Their are no lumps when I stop. When I wake up for the next pumping 3 hours later, my boobs are super sore and has about 2 lumps each plus rock hard.
This doesn't happen during the day 😢 I am going today to get an actual hands free pumping bra so maybe that will be more comfortable for my breasts.
The last 2 nights I have been wearing my pre pregnancy sports bra and it is a little tight so maybe that is why??
**My son is in NICU so I've been pumping on his 3 hour feeding schedule like I was told to do by his doctor and my LC.**
Help!!! I'm new to this.

I had to deal with that a few times but I don't really have advice. Since your Baby is still in the nicu you should ask for a lactation consultant to come talk to you and offer suggestions. I do know it's not all that good to wear tight bras (and hands free pumping is the way to go! Cut up an old sports bra for a cheap hands free bra).

sports bras should never be worn while pumping/breastfeeding..... they could be the cause.... get the hands free like you said, also make sure you are pumping long enough (10-15 minutes is what I was told).... like @kimberlyyyy suggested speak to a lactation consultant they will be able to help you out a great deal, mine has been a lifesaver this second time (I didn't utilize her when I had my first and I suffered dry up at 2 months because I didn't have the extra support and someone to tell me what I could take medicine wise)

I have a LC from the hospital 2 of them and they are NO good. I even told them I had no idea how to get started and they weren't of much help at all. They had me pumping every hour and got me off schedule and made my milk be overly productive 😕 I actually am going today to get a hands free bra I hope that helps! Also I pump one at a time right now since I don't have the hands free bra it's much easier. but.... by the time I pump the other breast, the one I just pumped is getting hard again 😢 I'm seriously drained with it but I want to continue what's best for my baby.

I had that my first week and I just pumped more frequently but I didn't empty the breast because I didn't want to over produce.. I fed, pumped and massaged. Every time I would feel my boob getting a little hard I would pump again because I didn't know how much was too much. Since I didn't want to over produce I would pump what she would be drinking. I would pump right out of a hot shower so the milk would come down easy. Doctor told me to start taking evening primrose to help with the inflammation in my boobs

Still new at this but hope that helps

pumping just one at a time could also be the reason, and if they got it to where you over produced then that could also be the cause.... perhaps find a different LC? if you can.... definitely get the bra so you can pump both sides at one time.... and if you still have hard spots, maybe invest in a hand pump (I got a $20 hand pump at walmart) and use it while in the shower to help relieve a clogged duct (it sounds like that may be what you are experiencing (which the sports bra can contribute to... too much pressure on the breasts when there is milk present, I think is what I read, can cause the duct to clog).... you are doing what is best mama, keep up the good work
