if you're not married should the kids last name be hyphenated. wondering why is the dads last name…

well my mom did the same and so did I but if they sign the birth certificate then the Child's supposed to have their name and I ain't gone lie I did it to ensure my kids can be taken care of in life and death men aren't as permeant as we are but my kids have their dads last name

totally your choice! But personally if I wasn't married I would definitely hyphenate so the baby could have my last name also 😊

@number321, I'm using my last name! But the dad and I aren't together. And just because they sign the birth certificate does not mean they have to have their last name by any means!

my daughter has my last name her dad and I are not married and his name is on the birth certificate.

nope all my kids have they own dad never embarrassed cause hell just didn't work out what can I do but all my kids are spaced super far apart 15&11;& the one I'm having in ten days I wanted to be married and all that but just ain't work that way

but its honestly your choice hun you can name baby what ya want no one can tell u otherwise

yea my kids all have separate dads and never thought about it being an issue until my dad said something. when I told him I was pregnant with baby number three his response was..."now u know this doesn't look good...3 kids 3 baby daddy's @supermommy31082

oh.. im finally getting around to changing my last name legally to my husband's so that my daughter will have his last name either or i heard husbands dont have to sign the birth certificate idk how true that it.. but i think its a slap in the face for a child to not have their fathers last name especially when hes in the picture for the child. i never knew my mom used both names ..but I have my dads... she was married when she had me tho so idk if that makes a difference

it's not a slap in the face..my dad was around for a while then he up and move to California when I was 10...we don't really have a relationship. I don't think I would of cared whose name i got lol @lilfree16

I gave my oldest son his dad's last name, his dad was the only boy and my son his only child so I did it so he could carry on his name. We weren't together anymore but still on good terms and he's been in his life so I don't regret doing it. I may have done differently if I'd had a girl but Idk.

my first son had my last name and this baby will have my bfs last name when we get married Hes legally adopting my first son and were going to change his last name so we all have the same last name.

me and my fiancé aren't married but my son will have his last name. if people are giving you crap ignore it and choose what you like. its your baby.
