So my fiance works a lot usually only sees the kids an hour a night before they have to go to bed. Well he has been gone a week now and we finally did a video chat. Our 5 month old had no interest or reaction, all he wanted was to play with the phone or look at everything around him. He also does this when you hold him he would rather look around then look at the person holding him. is this normal??

My nephew did that for a while as well! I was wondering if it was bad but then he Eventually grew out of it. he's now 9 months and will look straight you if you are talking to him. so I wouldn't be too concerned about it.

perfectly normal. it's a mental development milestone, showing more interest in his surroundings and environment he is becoming or already is aware that you as his parents are around all the time and other people he will recognize if he knows them or not

@mdomke22, @loveless thank you ladies. its not just us, it seems no matter who is holding him he has to look around. But maybe thats him looking for us. I know when he is in physical therapy for his flattened head he won't pay attention to her because he is looking at me
