I feel as if it is a bad idea.. My daughter loved her tablet and tv so much that we had to take them from her she was so into them and anytime we asked for them back she threw a temper tantrum! She became addicted to them!! She hasn't touched a tablet in over a year and hasn't watched tv in months!! I know it seems harsh but we had gone threw hell with her even when it came to interactive things!!

I think it's a great idea. Just make sure that you set your parental blocks up. Make the iPad kid friendly and she'll be good. Also set up a timeframe when she's allowed to use it. Same as video games. My twins have had tablets since 3 but didn't get iPad minis until they were 5. And the best app ever was hooked on phonics and abc mouse.

I think if you monitor their use and only let them use it as a treat there's nothing wrong with it. Just don't let them over do it and become obsessed with it.

set time zones of when she is allowed to use it. Its great learning and most schools now use tablets and computers for that age. My son's school does. Make sure it has a child friendly case on it.

I kinda sorta agree. They become obsessive with it. And it's not their fault !technology is addicting even for us adults. I just feel like the more you can prolong them from having their own device the better. They're still at that age where they should be playing outside, doing arts and crafts, practicing to read and write. Not that she wouldn't be doing these things if you did give her the iPad, it's just that "there's probably an app for that." I think everything in proportion is good if you restrict her to certain amount of time it could be a great chance to teach her time management and patience. It's really all a matter of making sure she doesn't become one of those kids that scream when their iPad dies, or have a tantrum when you take it away.

Monitor the use, put time limits on it, child controls and it should be fine. Especially so long as she's going outside, maybe doing arts and crafts, and not on it all the time. It can be really beneficial for her learning.

As long as it is done in moderation!
