I didn't do it with my first 3 because I had never heard of it then, but I am definitely doing it this time around, with skin to skin and breast crawl.

I am going to do it, I have read lots of good things about it.

I believe my hospital just automatically does this, unless it is necessary not to for some other reason. They also automatically do skin to skin, and the "golden hour" where it is nobody else but you and your baby (and partner) for the first hour. They also expect the baby to breastfeed within that hour. And the baby rooms in with you, the whole stay. They have done studies about all of this and are now making it the go to thing unless you don't want to do that or are not able to for some reason.

It is healthier for the baby to wait until the cord stops pulsating, and helps with so many other things to have skin to skin right away and for your baby to always be in the room with you and not have the stress of wondering where their mother is. Your baby can actually smell you from 30ft away, and if they are away from you like in a nursery it really stresses them out. Especially within those first couple days.

Wish I could. My doc doesn't believe in it and says it's only beneficial for preemies which is false. He claims it rushes too much blood to the baby at one time.
