They're either two weeks past their due date, water broke with no contractions, infection, preeclampsia or another medical issue, not enough fluid, baby stopped growing or sometimes doctors suggest it due to past pregnancy issues. Idk. My doctor said if if I hit 41 weeks we'll be setting an induction date. Some doctors don't recommend carrying after you're full term
@raegenice, that's what I'm wondering are ppl having health problems and once you're over 41 weeks that's normal to be induced but the ppl I see on here are only 37&38; weeks
@armanimommy711, they probably do have a health issue, either them or the baby, but don't want to say much about it. And sometimes baby is growing to be too big and in that case it's either induction or c-section
well in my case is due to my high risk pregnancy ( I have high blood pressure ) even that my blood pressure is doing good right now they always induce me around my 38-39 week just for precaution
the only thing is that the process take quite some time for me is always like a day and a half :(
I'm having a home birth with my midwife.. No induction for me. I left my doctor who wanted to induce me at 38 weeks just because it was convenient for her.. Sorry but me and baby are healthy. I'm doing this the way so many have done it for centuries

a lot of docs dont like you to over carry anymore so as long as you are term they schedule it

Idk it may be a mix of both. Sometimes doctors push it. Sometimes patients feel uncomfortable or are told baby may be too big.

In my case my doctor isn't letting me go past 39 weeks because my last pregnancy my daughter was too big and her heart rate dropped with contractions.
