There's the option to have any pain relief you want hun :) and the epidural stops the pain :) I had a spinal block..wasn't my choice..had to have it...because of a forcep delivery. I didn't feel a thing lol...was kinda relaxing after having contractions for over 24 hours :) I went on gas and air from 8cms :) I was pushing on nothing though..as I wasn't allowed the gas and air while pushing...was pushing for an hour before a doc came in a discovered that my girls head wasn't in the right angle xx

@winterbaby95, I really have my heart set on a water birth with just gas and air but if anything happens so I can't have that then I'm going to go epidural although I really don't want it I've decided I'll just go through with it if I get moved wards but ideally like to just stay on midwife led care xxx

@holliesinead I had my heart set on a water birth and just gas and air too...but labour/birth is always controlled by the baby. And honestly if everything had gone the way I had planned...I probably wouldn't be here as.I.lost 3litres of blood after delivery ...because of my uterus and placenta. It was lucky I was in Theatre. As they had all the staff rushing around getting things etc :) xxx

The most important thing to me was the safe delivery of my baby xx

@holliesinead, same with me! I think we're be having our babies at the same hospital? Watford? I really want a water birth but I'm not good with pain 🙈 I really don't want an epidural but think I will probably have to have one :( I'm sure we're find out when the real thing comes haha🙈 xx

@becca2716, yeah I'm going Watford Hun when are you due? I really do not want to leave the midwife led unit but my pain threshold is so low if I couldn't cope last night I've no idea how I'll do when the real thing is here on gas and air 🙈😫

I'm due 29th may, when's your due date? You never know you might surprise yourself and do it just on gas and air in the pool. I'm very determined to stay on the midwife led unit but you never know what's going to happen baby will decide what sort of labour we have 😂🙈 I really hope you get the labour you want hun try not to worry about it @holliesinead xx

@becca2716, I'm 8th June so just a week after you we may be in at the same time lol! I do hope we are both ok and get the water birth we want! I also would love my OH to be able to stay with me rather than get sent home xxx

We may be haha you never know!, I'm sure he will be I think that's one of the perks of the midwife led bit xx
