just a question, trying to figure something out.... When would you put your child in Headstart or…

I started my daughter in preschool at 3 and then kindergarten here a starts at age 5

@hermommy, I know someone's kid who could say the pledge of allegiance at 2. It's all about consistency & teaching them early. Kids are super smart. Sorry I don't have an answer to your question though 😂

i taught my son all that before he ever went to school now they are testing him for the gifted program

@crixxy that's what I plan to do with my kids is teach them before it just breaks my heart those kids have no-one to work with them Joe and i aren't around enough to do it

Now a days I'm pretty sure kids can't start kindergarten unless they can pass certain prerequisites like the Abc's counting to a certain number. I could be mistaken though but I'm pretty sure which is why some sort of educational development is important in year years even if it's just at home.

@cterry I believe your correct I know I started at 5 and turned 6. I'm not even sure theyll put him in school next year the little guy can't talk :/

@cterry they would have to put them both in school hayleigh will be 5 but the issue is they can talk where you can understand them, they'd both be held back constantly:( i kinda hope someone intervens I tried and had hayleigh able to count to 5 and now because they quit work in with her she can barley pass 4

the age to begin kindergarten is set by date like here in arkansas your kids have to be 5 before August 1st my son didn't get to start until he was 6 bc his birthday is august 14th and school start august 19th but he wasn't five by August 1st the year before if that makes since. my daughter got to start at 5 bc her birthday is in march so it didn't really affect her and yes they do entry exams for kindergarten but that is not to determine if they can start or not it is to determine where the child may need more or less help and that can also have them setup with special education if they need it.
