My BP was 133/81, that's the highest it's been. Has anyone had their BP slowly elevate in their last few weeks and should I worry? My nurse and doctor didn't seem worried.

Mine would get elevated and then when they retook it, it would be in the normal range. Then when I was 39 weeks, I started getting swollen; face, neck, hands, feet, ankles, wrists. And my bp was through the roof, turns out, I had preeclampsia.

That's not extremely high. 120/80 is normal, so it's pretty close to that. BP can spike for a million reasons. All they can really do for now is just monitor it each time you come in. If it gets consistently higher, then they will probably come up with a new game plan for you. I had to go on bed rest because of high BP at 37 weeks until I had my firstborn. It started climbing before that, but they just watched it. It never developed into preeclampsia or anything, though. Second pregnancy, my BP was perfect! Are you still with the father? This sounds crazy, but there have been studies that show ingesting semen combats gestational hypertension. 😆😂 I couldn't make that up, trust me lol!

I've had a 154/97 reading because I was nervous one day lol. I bought a cuff so I can take it at home but it's never been more than 140 since and my doctor doesn't seem concerned

@mamalamadingdong, okay thank you. It had been no more than 120/80 all this time that's why I was kind of concerned l. But I have my next appointment on Wednesday 😊 And yeah we're married lmao😂😂 omg I'm gonna look that up. Random fact of the day.

@taylornelson, lol oh wow, what'd your doctor say? But I'm glad it hasn't gone anywhere near there again. They don't monitor you any closer?
Brea·
Yeah. I think the day I was admitted, it was 180/100. It kept going up. The top number made it to 202 I believe was the highest one. I don't remember the lower numbers peak. I had to be put on medication to lower it. And when it still kept bouncing up, I was told no stimulus. I had to just lay in bed with the lights off, no tv, no phone, no talking to my husband, etc.
Taylor·
@raegenice, they had me keep it for a week day and night and turn it in to them. I didn't have one high reading so they said just to take it every now and then to be on the safe side. She did recommend staying away from sugars, salt and caffeine. That was my while diet lol

@breloya, wow, that's something serious. So glad you got through that. are you back in normal ranges now or do you take bp medication ?
Brea·
And I was admitted and induced at 40+2.

@taylornelson, lol see I think I might be having too much salt intake. I do eat fruit and ALL I drink is water except occasionally. My husband looks at me like I'm crazy because I go through 24 and 32 packs of water so quickly lol

I'm normal again now. Only thing I had to take when I left the hospital was iron pills for a few months because I hemorrhaged severely after birth.

@breloya, thank goodness you're okay. do you want anymore kids or saying no after that pregnancy??
Brea·
I want at least one more lol. It was an easy and problem free pregnancy all the way until the very end. I didn't have morning sickness or anything else.
