When you get closer to the end of your pregnancy, your obgyn will give you a list of recommended pediatric doctors. We researched each one and called to make the "1st visit" appointment. This means, when your in the recovery room, the chosen pediatrician will stop by for he 1st checkup while you're still in the hospital

I knew all along who I wanted as a pediatrician, but this morning when I was making calls I found out that the group is not accepting new patients with medicaid. Luckily my back up is.

talk to your friends:) see if maybe you can go with them to their baby's appointment that's what I did and loved getting to watch the way Dr. Whitaker is with the babies:D

@whitneym, @jennatess thanks ladies! I've heard that some doctors will do "meet and greet" with the parents before the baby is born, so they get to know each other, preferences, etc.. I don't want to just choose one off a list without knowing about the office and Doctor beforehand.

@milestide25, I wish I knew! I don't know any of the pediatrician in my area anymore. @hermommy I didn't even think of that! I just want to be able to sit down and make sure that we aren't going to clash on all views, etc. not that I'm wanting to do anything I think a pediatrician wouldn't approve of, but you know how everyone is different

@jwalkn4 definitely that's why when my best friend asked if i wanted to come meet him ( she was getting her 6 month shots I believe) I jumped at the opportunity he was AMAZING!? He got her to quit crying so quickly, he made her giggle he truely cared about her well being he even told Amanda that the flu vaccine isn't necessary. You really get to know a doctor by seeing how they interact, I didn't a meet and greet with another doctor at a different practice a few days later and hated him:/

@hermommy, how did you set up the meet and greet? Just call the office and let them know when your due?

@jwalkn4 you dont have to tell them when your due, i just called Scotts office and told them I'm trying to chose a pedi for my daughter would I be able to maybe do a quick meet and greet to get to know him and ask some questions. they said sure:)

You can call and set up an appointment to meet them before the baby is born to see how you like them.
