C sections are done if baby is in distress, if the baby is too big, if labor isn't progressing, if the mom has had a c section before and knows she has to have another. There's multiple reasons. I had an emergency c section at 37 weeks, my sons umbilical cord was wrapped around his neck.

People can also request c-sections or being induced but most doctors need a medical reason for it. Some will do elective c-sections though.

I requested to get induced if i make it to 39 weeks, it's just an opinion I think my doctor pwrsonally thinks passing 40 is dangerous so he explains and then you chose

yes I'm gonna ask my doctor what his take on that is..@hermommy, i was asked by the nurse practitioner but I also heard something about it could be dangerous passing 40weeks because of the meconium

@numommy2016 that's what my OB said was meconium and they can also get so big that your only option is a Csection:/ definitely talk to your OB about what's best for you, mines inducing early because of my size and the fact we know for a fact my hips won't spread:/

I'm getting induced tonight at midnight not because I want to but because I have gestational diabetes and he already weighs 7lbs and I'm 38 weeks. And I'm very slim so if I wait until 40 weeks he will weigh around 8lbs and can really rip me or even break my hips or even be stillborn just because I have gestational diabetes. Or might end up in emergency C Section. So my doctor decided it's best to be induced now.

Yes. I don't understand why women just choose to be induced or to have a c section I would love to experience my baby being ready on his own but oh well his health is a bit more important to me right now. And thanks

My doctor wouldn't schedule induction until my 41 week appointment. I was induced and had a vaginal delivery! I personally wouldn't let them induce me until a week late or more if I were you. As long as baby is healthy! They did an ultrasound to check our health at 40 weeks and 41 weeks
