My Fiance and I sleep with our air conditioner on every night. We tend to get hot quicker than we get cold so it stays on high all day long just about. We live in a small one room apartment so when the baby is born he's obviously gonna stay in the room with us. My question is, Is it okay for him to be exposed to that cold air like that? Would I have to keep him well wrapped and covered since he'll be a newborn? Or should I just cut out the air conditioning all together and cope with a well sized fan?

maybe lower it a little and keep the baby clothed and have a hat on. my mom always tells me its better to have a house cold because it keeps the germs away as where a hot house has a lot more germs, not sure how true it is tho...

@kelseys, I don't know how true that is either but that's what they do at hospitals so I guess it's effective. I've always said it's better to be cold than hot cause if your cold you can always add layers but you can only take but so much off when your hot. But maybe that doesn't apply to babies.

use a fan hun that cold air is no good and acs harbor lots of bacteria

maybe ask the doctor once the baby is born. when I dress my kids, I kind of put a little more on them than I'm wearing because I've always heard that kids are usually more colder or hotter than us adults, again not sure if that's true either but I still do it. its nice weather here, I sometimes just wear a shirt outside where as I put a light sweater or windbreaker on them just because its a little windy. but your right you can always add layers but also be careful with that because I've heard you can over heat them too.

I had the same question with my first and my dr said that I should be more concerned about him being hot than cold

@mamix3_, yeah those air filters in acs can be hard to clean sometimes. @kelseys ive heard that too that you should always put a layer more on them than what we have on. But I'm due towards the end of May which is gonna be summer time by then here and it gets very hot during our summers. Like you said I don't wanna over heat him by putting too much clothes on him.

They say that if you're cold, they're cold. They suggest having one more layer on them than you have when it's chilly. I'm sure baby will be fine, just pay attention for a bit after you bring him/her home. You'll be able to tell if they're chilly and cover them (:
